Creative Ways To Spice Up Your Landscape
Keeping your yard and lawn looking fresh and well maintained can be a very difficult task. It can require a great deal work but also imagination. Sometimes the regular old green lawn starts to look a little bit plain and mundane. So, there are a few different ways that you can break up the mundane and create an extraordinary landscape. Do not be afraid to experiment a little bit with your lawn, as you can always go back, level it out, and plant grass. Here are just a few ways that you can create a fresh new look for your landscape:
Stone Walkway
Endless green grass can sure be beautiful, but sometimes you want to break up the sections of grass. One of the best ways to do that is to create a stone pathway. A great aspect of stone is that there are many different colors and styles. No matter what your style of home is, you will have options to create a beautiful stone pathway. In order to build a complete stone pathway, you will want to cut away the grass and give yourself about ten inches depth. Tamp down the pathway very well to prevent settling. On the tamped ground lay down really good weed guard and pour approximately six inches of gravel and sand. On the sand, lay and level your stones, and pour small pebble gravel to keep the stones in place.
Gravel Garden
Maintaining a nice garden full of flowers or even vegetables takes a lot of commitment. You need to have the patience to pull a lot of weeds. One way that you can cut down on your maintenance time is to make a gravel garden. The gravel garden can be complimented with any number of colors of gravel, and if you lay weed guard down under the gravel, you will not have to pull weeds. Then you can puncture specific areas where you want your flowers. Even flower pots can create a beautiful garden.
Retaining Walls
Many people think that in order to have a retaining wall incorporated in your landscaping it is necessary to have a great deal of topographic relief, but this is not true. You can build a retaining wall with just a few inches of relief. Often these small retaining walls can serve as flower gardens. There are so many different ways to spice up your landscape, so do not be afraid to have some fun and use your imagination.
